Led by: Alina POPESCU
Fields: Env. & Earth Sci.
Products and process engineering
Institution: National Research and Development Institute for Textiles and Leather (INCDTP)
Scientists/Total: 4/7
Keywords:  Dyeing, finishing, enzymes.

The lab develops research in the following fields:
- The reduction of the environmental risk factors by the development and implementation of clean finishing technologies, such as: the use of multifunctional ecologic chemical auxiliaries, biocatalysts (new generations of enzymatic products with highly specific action and low environmental impact), chemical agents and ecological dyes with high exhaustion degree, cumulating of technological steps to reduce water and energy consumption, the reduction of wastewater quality indicators (COD, BOD, heavy metals, etc.);
- The development of advanced wastewater treatment technologies in the textile industry, such as: physical-chemical methods with ozonization step, electrochemical methods of treating effluents containing organic compounds, new types of adsorbent materials (natural, artificial, synthetic materials and agricultural and industrial waste products) and photocatalytic systems and nanostructured catalysts;
- Raising awareness on the environmental laws enforcement to strengthen the competitiveness of industrial enterprises in Romania on the EU market to improve the life quality, to ensure the prevention and environmental protection measures.
