The Institute of Biochemistry of the Romanian Academy aims:
- to lead competitive research in Molecular Life Sciences to the advantage of the society;
- to promote in Romania Protein Science by undertaking projects related to protein function, synthesis and trafficking with practical impact in biomedicine, nano & bio-technologies;
In the next years our research will focus on the molecular mechanisms of the folding and intracellular transport of soluble and membrane bound glycoproteins. In particular, melanoma proteins will be investigated in terms of maturation, degradation and antigen presentation.
