The general objective of the project is to increase the R&D quality and efficiency of the “Petru Poni” Institute of Macromolecular Chemistry, Iaşi, by modernizing the R&D infrastructure through the access of the scientists to top level research equipment. This general objective will be attained by:

- The development of the research capacity of the Institute by updating the R&D infrastructure, to attain the scientific competitiveness at international standards.
- The improvement of R&D management.
- The improvement of the research and education environment by creating the most appropriate research and education conditions for young researchers from both Romania and abroad.

The non-refundable value of the project amounts to 18,633,726 lei (about 5,000,000 €) and is intended to build and provide with highly perfomant equipment a Centre of Advanced Research in Bionanoconjugates and Biopolymers (IntelCentre), integrated into the “Petru Poni” Institute of Macromolecular Chemistry.


- four fully equipped laboratories as ISO 7 and ISO 8 level clean rooms ;
- low temperatures storage equipments (-45, -86, -150 ° C);
- ultrapure water preparing system;
- microbiological hoods;
- freeze-dryer;
- gas systems for N2, O2, CO2, Ar, compressed dry air;
- class II, type A biosafety cabinets working within an ISO 7 level clean room;
- class III biosafety cabinet with N2 and CO2 controlled atmosphere;
- facilities and equipment for sterile preparation;
- sterilization systems;
- autoclaves for cell culture destruction at the end of experiments.
- the highly sensitive equipments are working in ISO 6 and ISO 7 level clean rooms;
- an extended gas delivery system ensures the necessary volumes of N2, O2, CO2, Ar, at precise regulated parameters;
- antivibration tables are used to sustain SEM, AFM and Raman confocal microscope;
- all the rooms are connected to a HVAC (heating, ventilation, air conditioning) system, doubled by a high flow air filtering unit;
- in all rooms the air composition is monitored, to prevent toxicants accumulation and explosion;
- nanohazard avoiding systems are used in investigation laboratories.

Particle size and Z potential measurements by DLS. DelsaNano C analyzer coupled with an Autotitrator DelsaNanoAT module.
