Molecules and mechanisms involved in vascular inflammation as targets for nanotherapeutic strategies;
Role of cell adhesion molecules, cytokines and chemokines in vascular pathology;
The use of liposomes, lipid nanoemulsions and polymeric nanoparticles as site-specific drug delivery systems.
Most of the objectives mentioned above will benefit from the new CARDIOPRO equipements that will support and strengthen our research focused to uncover the molecular mechanisms that are instrumental in the interaction between vascular cells and immune cells in atherosclerosis and diabetes.
Moreover, we will investigate the interaction between specific nanoparticles with the vascular cells and plan to detect new molecules and microRNA that are involved in foam cell formation.
