Keywords:  The general main research domains are defined by the activities developed by its members: new materials mechanics, innovative processes and products for transports and automotive industry, static and dynamic structural analysis, thermodynamics and fluid mechanics. The general aim is to realise research/development programs for different automotive parts, combustion phenomenon using conventional and non-conventional fuels (bio ethanol, bio diesel, GPL, hydrogen, methanol etc.), behaviour analysis under different loads of structures made of conventional and new materials, noise and vibration studies, etc.

Infrastructures

Internal combustion engine testing stand - AVL, with electrical reversible break (with a maximum power of 250 kW at 10000 rpm). Power dissipation by the thermic engine is recovered in local wiring electric system. The equipment permits to be done the following tests: determination of engine characteristics, determination of mechanical loss, performances optimisation, ecological and energetically performances optimisation;
Three transparent engines for combustion processes studies;
Visioscope used for combustion process visualization;
Equipment specialized in fuel injection process analysis;
Engine monitoring equipment - check the main parameters: revolution; torque moment; acceleration flap position/electronic pedal; 16 temperatures and 16 pressures of working fluids; temperatures and pressures of the admitted air and of the evacuation gasses; admitted air debit; fuel specific consumption; environmental conditions;
HORIBA equipment: rotation angle of the crank shaft and of the superior point, combustion chamber pressure from the admission and evacuation collector in the range of 0 ... 2000 bar, the ascension trap of valves, admission air flow capacity, particle density from evacuation gases, analysis of 26 components.
