- Study the effects of various additives on cement hydration;

- Determination of liquid content in different porous materials (stone, wood, ceramics,
catalysts, bricks, soil, etc.) and their pore size distribution;
- Determining the degree of deterioration of lubricants;
- Study the effectiveness of contrast agents used in magnetic resonance imaging
with applications in medicine;
- Determining the water content and its distribution in foods and seeds;
- Determining the permeability of soils to certain pollutants;
- 2D optical images with resolution of up to 1μm of various non-transparent materials.

Infrastructures

Bruker MINISPEC MQ20 time domain analyzer operating at a proton resonance frequency of 20MHz; the system is
equipped with a temperature control unit (-20+120 oC) and a field gradient unit (G=4T/m)
- STELAR SmarTracer NMR relaxometer; the instrument allows longitudinal relaxation time measurements in a
frequency range between 10KHz and 10MHz; the temperature range of the experiments is between -120 oC and
+140 oC.
- Leica DM2500M-methalografic optical microscope; the microscope allows digital acquisition of images with a
maximum resolution of 1μm.
Some other specific instruments of the laboratory are: vacuum oven, digital balance, oscilloscopes, digital multi-meters,
stabilized voltage and current sources, etc.

Applications

ageing and alteration processes of different materials such as rubber, polymers, lubricants or food, new NMR techniques suitable for the investigation of systems with a high content of magnetic impurities (concrete, rocks, soils, different building materials)
