Video: Technology Transfer in Developing Countries
1. Start small. A big investment in a big innovation center or incubator or institute is a high risk. If it fails, or does not deliver right away (which it is unlikely to do) then people will become demotivated and dissuaded from trying again.
2. Start with young people. Students, young graduates, young scientists.
3. Start by putting together people with solutions with people with problems. Engineers and business people on one side and people in need of a solution to a problem on the other.
4. Start with individuals, not institutions. Success comes from individuals.
These and other important lessons in this video interview with two US technology transfer professionals after a visit to Guatemala.
